Pound Ridge Armstrong House Sets Official Opening

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy will host an open house for its newest project – the Armstrong Education Center – from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at 1361 Old Post Road (Route 121) just north of the causeway.

The event will feature the completed renovation of the conservancy’s off-the-grid solar-powered residence, now home to its land steward/educator, Tate Bushell.

Attendees can take an energy tour of the home, a mini workshop in the community mandala edible garden and a guided trail walk on the newly opened Armstrong loop, which connects the Armstrong Preserve to its neighboring Richards Preserve. There will be live entertainment featuring The Catch, a local high school rock and roll band, with power supplied by the sun, along with refreshments and fun for the kids.

The Armstrong Education Center is open to the public by invitation and appointment. Its 43-acre preserve is home to the group’s outdoor classrooms and innovative programming for living lighter on the land with the goal of becoming stewards of the natural places we call home.
