The men, Mel Comberiati, a teacher at Manhattanville College in Purchase, and Brendan Ryan, an art and antiques appraiser in Pound Ridge, spent three weeks authenticating the piece that Ryan found, a rare Beethoven sketch leaf, framed and hanging in the home, said Lohud.com.

After three weeks of investigation, the piece was confirmed to be a rare Beethoven work-in-progress — the first draft for what would become Beethoven's opus 117, "King Stephan," reported Lohud.com.
