POUND RIDGE Pound Ridge police made two motor vehicle-related arrests this past week, one for DWI and one for driving with a suspended license.
Officers Friday saw a car heading south on Salem Road being operating erratically. Police pulled the car over and questioned the driver, Joseph Scofield, 55, of Pound Ridge. The officers suspected Scofield had been drinking. Police said he did not cooperate with them at first and nearly fell out of his car when he tried to get out.
Scofield was issued field sobriety tests and failed, police said. He was then taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. A DMV computer check showed Scofield has a suspended New York State drivers license. He was processed and arraigned in Pound Ridge Justice Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail on $5,000 bail.
Police arrested Nicolas Jaffre, 41, of New Canaan, Conn. Monday for driving along Westchester Avenue with a suspended license. Jaffre was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Bail was set at $250. He is scheduled to return to court Monday to answer this charge as well as a previous violation.

Police responded to a report of fireworks in the Westchester Avenue area on July 13. Officers patrolled the area, spoke to someone and told him not set off any more.
Police were called to a home on Eastwoods Road Friday where they intervened in a domestic dispute between a husband and a wife.
Police responded to Bob Hill Road Sunday for a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. The caller said a vehicle was parked and running with someone lying in the drivers seat. Police investigated and discovered that the motorist had stopped to get a few minutes of rest.
Police responded to a Long Ridge Road residence Sunday to help someone who was having trouble breathing. The person was taken to the hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Police received a complaint from a Salem Road resident Sunday who said a car was parked in front of his home. Officers did a DMV check to find the vehicles owner and contacted them. The car owner said the car had broken down and a tow truck was on the way.
