“This will be a fun-filled family friendly event that brings together various ecological messages from our town boards/commissions and local organizations to educate residents on making responsible choices," Peter Avellino,  chair of the Pound Ridge Environmental Steering Committee said in a statement. "The committee is working diligently to create an event full of activities and information to empower the residents to learn about reducing their carbon footprint, permaculture, recycling, energy alternatives and energy savings ideas, protecting their environment and drinking water."

Avellino originated the idea and presented it to the Conservation Board and the Sustainability Task Force in May.

In addition to the event, Avellino proposed, in the presentation as future long-term goals of the committee, to create a website as an online presence for resources and ongoing communication with the residents, offer additional education programs throughout the year, and develop and implement an Environmental Action Plan for the Town.
