Patricia Sorge, 76, Pound Ridge Recreation Chair

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Patricia McCue Sorge, a resident of Pound Ridge for more than 45 years, died suddenly May 23 at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital. She was 76.

Sorge was a chairperson for the Pound Ridge Recreation Commission, as well as the Pound Ridge Republican Party, where she served as secretary for many years.

Born June 12, 1935, in Middletown, Conn., she was the daughter of Thomas J. and Margaret Slater McCue. She received a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Rose, a master's degree from Fairfield University and an MBA from Fordham University.

Sorge worked as a music teacher in the elementary school system in Stamford, Conn., and New Hyde Park. An accountant, she also worked for Chase Packaging in Greenwich, Conn., and Mutual of America in New York. Most recently, Sorge worked for Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut.

She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Sorge, of Pound Ridge; two sons, Paul E. Sorge Jr., of Pound Ridge, and Thomas J. (Cathy) Sorge, of Redding, Conn.; a sister, Hon. Sheila Hennessey, of Wethersfield, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, Conn. Burial will follow at Pound Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
