Toad the Wet Sprocket To Perform At Pound Ridge Harvest Festival

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – The Pound Ridge Partnership is shoring up plans for its Second Annual Harvest Festival and this year’s event is attracting some big-time talent.

“This year, Toad the Wet Sprocket, one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the 1990s, will perform,” said Steve Bensusan, a Harvest Festival Committee member.

Named in honor of a sketch by the Monty Python comedy troupe, Toad the Wet Sprocket is a four-piece band formed in Santa Barbara, Ca. in 1986. The group is best known for the hits “Walk on the Ocean,” “Something’s Always Wrong,” and “Fall Down.”

This year’s festival is slated for Saturday, Oct. 13 and will be held along Westchester Avenue in Scotts Corners. The event, which drew a crowd of 1,000 festival goers last year, will feature a beer garden and Oktoberfest-style foods, a root beer garden and games for the kids, as well as live music.

“The idea for Pound Ridge Harvest Festival grew out of the success of Pound Ridge Pride,” said Mike Daglio, co-chair of the Harvest Festival’s Planning Committee. “It was such an incredible day to see everyone gather in the town center to celebrate the great community in which we live. I thought that we need to have these kinds of events more often so I came up with the idea to organize a fall festival.”

Organizers said that, while the festival is a way for area residents to get together and celebrate, it also acts as an important fundraiser.

“While the Harvest Festival is a lot of fun, there is a serious mission behind it – raising money to support important community projects in Pound Ridge,” said Kevin Long, the other co-chair of the Festival.

Funds from last year’s Harvest Festival helped fund the new garden next to Plum Plum’s Cheese shop in the heart of the business district.

Pound Ridge Partnership leaders said the group is always looking for new members.
