Actor Byrne was born in Dublin, Ireland on May 12, 1950 and turns 67 on Saturday.
He had a strict Roman Catholic upbringing and entered the priesthood briefly.
He was an archeologist, history teacher and Spanish teacher before becoming an actor in Dublin at age 29.
He's also a film director, film producer, writer, cultural ambassador and audiobook narrator.
He came to U.S. in 1987 and married actress Ellen Barkin. They lived after having two children and divorced in 1999.
Byrne starred as therapist Dr. Paul Weston in the critically acclaimed HBO series "In Treatment" from 2008 to 2010. He won a Golden Globe for the show and was nominated for an Emmy.
Byrne now resides in Manhattan.
