Save Your Appetite For A Taste Of Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge gets a little tastier every year. For the fifth time, a foodie feast, “A Taste of Pound Ridge,” sponsored by the Pound Ridge Business Association (PRBA), will take place in May. The beneficiary is the Pound Ridge Library Foundation.

As usual, Scotts Corners businessman Fred Albano will devote his showroom to hosting the affair. “Every participant gets a piece of real estate in Fred’s store, where they can showcase samples of their food,” explained the PRBA's Ruth Mendes. “The restaurants and other food establishments get to display their fare and the community gets the benefit in more ways than one,” she said.

“People come and graze for the entire three hours. In back by the loading docks, they set up a pizza oven and a barbecue. Albano’s resident chef, Jehan deNoue will coordinates the whole thing,” Mendes continued.

Among the participants this year are the Mariela Rossi Wine Lounge, the fledgling Betty’s Tea Shop, Blind Charlie’s Cafe, DiNardo’s, Pinocchio Pizza, Plum Plums Cheese, Maggie May’s Frozen Yogurt & Ice Cream, the Scotts Corner Market, Asia Hamachi Restaurant, North Star, and Champagne Tea. Niels Wittus of Fire By Design will be cooking in one of his award-winning European hearth products.

A cash wine and beer bar will satisfy your thirst while you listen to live music, enjoy the silent auction, and await your chance to win the 50/50 raffle. There’ll be a balloon man to entertain the kids, as well.

Items in the silent auction include a week’s lodging at Smuggler’s Notch in Vermont, a South Africa Photo Safari for two, Giants and Yankees tickets, dinner at Crabtree’s Kittle House, and over 100 other items.

Tickets for A Taste of Pound Ridge are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Children 12 and under are $10. Tickets are on sale at the Pound Ridge Library and at Albano Appliance, 83 Westchester Avenue.

The event is on Thursday, May 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. The silent auction starts at 6 p.m. For information about tax-deductible donations to the silent auction, or to bid remotely, contact Vivian at vivian.falco@gmail.com or call (914) 764-4988.
