Pound Ridge Yogurt Shop To Add Store In Goldens Bridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – After just more than three months at its Pound Ridge location on Westchester Avenue, Maggie May's Yogurt & Ice Cream shop is gearing up for expansion by adding another store.

Maggie Nader, the shop’s owner, along with her husband, Patrick, recently received the necessary permits and approvals to open a second shop in the North County Shopping Center in Goldens Bridge right next to the Subway sandwich shop.

“Having more than one store was the plan from the very beginning,” Maggie Nader said. “It’s a family business and every store will be managed by me, Patrick, or one of my three sons or godson.”

Nader said her goal is to open the Goldens Bridge store by Sept. 10. She already has begun the search for a location for a third store.

“For the third store, we are being very selective about the location,” she said. “It will be a mission for over the winter, and we could have it open by next spring.”

While Maggie May’s trademark in Pound Ridge has been a store that offers both yogurt and ice cream, the Goldens Bridge store will feature only yogurt.

“We are in the same shopping center as Baskin-Robbins and there was a noncompete clause” in the lease, she said.

One new aspect to the business that Nader will add to both stores is a juice bar.

“Our customers have been asking for that,” she said. “We get a lot of runners and cyclists in here, and a lot of them said that is something that would interest them. We have most of the ingredients here already to do that, so why not?”

Nader said she expects the Goldens Bridge Maggie May’s to be just as successful as the Pound Ridge location.

“We are familiar with the North County Shopping, and it has lots of foot traffic with lots of businesses that complement each other,” she said. “The landlord and management said they’re really excited about us coming there.”

The shop just got the official approval from the town for its signage, and Nader said the yogurt machines were scheduled to arrive Monday. The plumbers and electricians are on hand this week putting in the finishing touches. All that’s left is some minor construction and painting.

“Everything is green-lighted and we are ready to go,” Nader said.
