Fatal Crash Involving Deer: 28-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Hudson Valley A young man has died after a vehicle crashed into a deer in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 6:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in Orange County on Route 302 near the intersection with State Route 17K in the town of Crawford. Stephen Montgomery, age 28, of Pine Bush was operating a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound when the deer crossed his path, causing the collision. 22-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Killed In Thruway Crash A 22-year-old Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle on the Thruway. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 11:25 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, on I-87 in Clarkstown. ID Released For Pedestrian Killed While Retrieving Cell Phone On I-95 A man who was struck and killed on I-95 while he retrieved his cell phone from the median has been identified. Hoa Ngo, 34, of Sacramento, Calif., was killed around 2:30 a.m. Monday on I-95 northbound just north of Exit 41 in Orange, said Sgt. Eric J Haglund with the Connecticut State Police. An initial investigation into the incident revealed that prior to the accident, Ngo was traveling with three adult friend in their pick-up truck towing a boat trailer when he accidentally dropped the phone out of an open window, Haglund said. Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center Dies After Single-Car Crash A 44-year-old man who was airlifted to an area hospital following a single-vehicle crash has died. Christopher M. Baxter, of Staatsburg, died from his injuries once he arrived at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, according to Capt. John Watterson with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. Watterson said the crash occurred around 8 a.m. Monday on All Angels Hill Road in Wappinger. An investigation into the crash is underway, he added.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Merritt Parkway A 50-year-old pedestrian was killed Friday night after being hit by a vehicle on the Merritt Parkway, state police announced Saturday morning. Mark Benardi of New Haven was walking on the right shoulder on the southbound side in the area of Exit 61 in Hamden when he was struck by 58-year-old Robert O'Connor of the Town of Fairfield at around 11:20 p.m. Troopers found Benardi in the median and the vehicle in the right shoulder when they arrived at the scene.
