Preston Sandford “Sandy” Scher died in Westchester on Sunday, Feb. 21, his family announced. Born Jan. 21, 1940, in Queens, to Robert Scher and Sylvia Fisher Scher, he made Dean’s Honor Roll at the University at Buffalo where he graduated with a B.A. in philosophy in 1961, where he was a captain of the school’s fencing team.
