Mom Intentionally Drove Son Into Connecticut Lake In Murder/Suicide, Police Say Police have determined that a mother “intentionally drove” into a Connecticut lake, killing herself and her son who was a passenger. The incident took place on Friday, July 31, when Connie Crowell, age 54, of Monroe, and her passenger and son John Crowell, age 22, both died due to drowning when she drove an SUV into the Housatonic Lake in western New Haven County in the Town of Seymour, on Roosevelt Drive. Duo Charged In $42.8K Scam With Money Sent To Vacant Homes, Police Say Two men from New York City were arrested as they retrieved $42,800 in payments sent by victims of a telephone scam to vacant homes for sale in Fairfield County, police say. Police received a complaint on Tuesday, Nov. 19, of suspicious activity concerning the delivery of packages to vacant homes for sale.  On Friday, Nov. 22, police received a call from a UPS security about suspicious deliveries scheduled to be delivered to two vacant homes for sale in eastern Fairfield County in the town of Monroe.  Surveillance was set up on each of the homes. Victims Of Triple-Fatal Crash In Hamden From Fairfield County This story has been updated. All three men killed in a single-car crash over the weekend in Hamden were either current or former Fairfield County residents. Officials said that Monroe resident Maksims Frolovs, 21, was driving near the intersection of Route 40 and Whitney Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning when he lost control and struck a tree. Bridgeport resident Edmonds Mihalenkos, 26, and Derby resident Hiadlas DeOliveira, 29, were also killed. DeOliveira was a Danbury High School graduate. BJ’s Will Offer Chainwide Instacart Delivery BJ’s Wholesale Club is making shopping easier for East Coast shoppers, announcing its intention to expand its same-day delivery partnership with Instacart. Officials from the popular retailer announced this week that it will now offer the service to all of its membership clubs no later than the end of April, following a lengthy pilot program at 18 stores in the region, a spokesperson said. How Much Snow Did You Get? A Look At Totals From The Area The start of spring is just a week away. So, it may be safe to assume we just saw the last snowfall of the season. But then again, considering the way this winter has gone, maybe not. The Nor'easter that moved through the area overnight Monday into Tuesday did result in bands of heavy snow -- and in some parts of the area, significant accumulation. As expected, the storm had the biggest impact farthest east. Since this storm pales in comparison to last week's, we have not received nearly as many reports.
