Port Chester Native Who Was Cop, Owner Of Popular Restaurant Dies A Westchester County native and retired police officer in Greenwich who spent 23 years with the department and then opened a popular Fairfield County restaurant has died. Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey reported that Joseph Gavin died on Monday, June 29. He was 75 years old.  Gavin, who was born in Port Chester, joined the department in July 1970 and served in the Patrol Division. William Colfax Davidson, Owner Of Law Firm In Port Chester, Dies At 82 William Colfax Davidson, 82, formerly of Port Chester and Rye, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Brookdale Health Center, in Cumberland, RI. Born in Port Chester in 1936, he was the son of the late John and Helen Davidson. He moved to Rye in 1977, later moving to the Brookhaven Condominium Complex in Woonsocket, RI and the New Pond Village in Walpole, MA. Mr. Davidson was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1954. He later graduated from Yale, Class of 1958.
