2.1 Earthquake Hits Hudson Valley, Loud Booms Heard Some Hudson Valley residents awoke to loud booms and mild shaking early in the morning after a mild earthquake or "seismic activity" hit the area. According to Dutchess County Emergency Management, the quake occurred around 3 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, originating in the town of Poughkeepsie between Sheafe Road and Camelot Road. The Dutchess County incident happened at around 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, in the village of Wappingers Falls, at a single-family home on Brick Row near Mill Street.
