PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester High School junior Jordan Lewis will have quite a few stories to tell his future grandkids after he returns from the nation’s capital in January.

Not only will the young scholar be participating in the U.S. Presidential Inauguration Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., he will be a witness to history as he watches fellow Westchester resident Donald J. Trump take the oath of office as the nation’s 45th president.

The inauguration is set for Friday, Jan. 20. The summit runs from Wednesday, Jan. 18, through Sunday, Jan. 22.

Lewis took a journalism course at Manhattan College in the Bronx over the summer and was recommended as a summit attendee by one of his professors.

Summit participants will be among hundreds of middle school, high school and college-age students who will be hearing from world-renowned speakers such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell; writer, actor and filmmakers Spike Lee; former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, and Donna Brazile, a veteran Democratic political strategist.

The teens will regroup as delegations in order to “generate solutions to real-world challenges that the next president and their generation will face,” according to summit organizers.

Delegates will present their findings and five winning groups will receive scholarships “to help fund their future success.”

That should be no problem for Lewis, a top student-athlete with an 86 grade point average, said Port Chester school officials.

He hopes to study journalism in college, but right now he’s concentrating on his athletic side.

Lewis, the captain of the track team, was also the winning team MVP this spring, and has been picked to participate in a U.S. vs. Australia track and field meet in Australia next summer.

He is also a starter on the PCHS varsity football team and dreams of playing in the NFL someday.

Lewis’s participation in the Envision Program at Manhattan College was funded by Wishbone, an organization that crowd-funds students who need financial assistance in order to pursue their passions.
