The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains. Admission is $30 for members and $40 for future members.

In this exclusive appearance with the Business Council, Flanagan will discuss his leadership role in last year's state budget. He will also outline his conference's plans on key economic development issues facing Westchester and the rest of the state that the Legislature will be working on during the 2016 session.

“I’ve known John Flanagan for nearly 25 years and served with him for 12 years in the New York State Assembly, so I know that he understands the importance of getting out of Albany’s bubble and meeting with constituents and business leaders firsthand to better understand the challenges they face to come up with long-term solutions to help New York,” said John Ravitz, executive vice president and chief operations officer of the Business Council of Westchester. “We’re incredibly pleased to continue our efforts in bringing our members such high-caliber speakers and decision-makers from the state.”

Flanagan’s appearance follows other key leaders who this year have met with the Business Council and its members, including Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and William J. Mulrow, secretary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Flanagan represents the 2nd Senate District, which includes the town of Smithtown and portions of the towns of Brookhaven and Huntington, all on Long Island. He was first elected to the Senate in 2002 and was recently elected by his colleagues to serve as temporary president and majority leader.

Before becoming majority leader, Flanagan served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Education. His achievements have included enacting a property tax cap, cutting personal income taxes and repealing the MTA payroll tax for 80 percent of businesses.
