Pagano's son Michael, an Indiana judge, administered the oath of office. "Several months ago when my dad was deciding whether to throw his hat in the ring, I made him a promise: if he won, I'd fly back home and swear him in," said Michael Pagano. "He won, and I bought a plane ticket."
"Whether as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne, as a Green Beret, as president of the Chamber of Commerce, or most recently as the chair of the IDA, he's shown again and again something I've known and taken as a given for nearly 43 years: My father is a natural leader."
Trustees Daniel Brakewood, Gene Ceccarelli, Joseph Kenner, Luis Marino, Gregory Adams and Saverio Terenzi were sworn in individually before a packed room of friends, family and residents.
After the swearing-in ceremony, the board awarded certificates of appreciation to former Mayor Dennis Pilla and former Trustee Bart Didden. The board then made several appointments to various village positions.
