Recyclables Stolen From Port Chester Supermarket

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – A man stole recyclables from the Stop & Shop in Port Chester early Tuesday morning and took off with them on his bicycle, police said.

One of the workers at the store at 25 Waterfront Place, told police at 4:30 a.m. he heard a burglar alarm go off in the recycle room. When he went to check on it, he saw an approximately 6-foot tall, 30-year-old, thin, Hispanic man grab a bag of recyclables and ride off down South Main Street.

Police searched the area and couldn’t find anyone matching the description. According to Lt. Jim Ladeairous, spokesman for the Port Chest Police Department, the store has had similar problems with theft of recyclables in the past.
