PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – A 23-year-old Port Chester man who allegedly beat and bit a 24-year-old Stamford man Saturday morning faces assault charges, police said.

Around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Port Chester police received a call about a dispute on Rectory Street. At the scene, the 24-year-old Stamford man was found in his underwear and bleeding from his right ear, head, and back, police said. He told police he was sleeping when someone woke up him punching him in the face. When he tried to get away, he felt unusual pain in his back, head and ear.

“I don’t know the reason behind the fight, but the guy attacked him by biting him,” said Lt. James Ladearious, a spokesman for the Port Chester Police Department. The Stamford man was transported to Greenwich Hospital for treatment.

Kafele Carty, 186 Grace Church St., was located in the building at Rectory Street and identified by the alleged victim, police said. He was arrested on a charge of assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. He was released on a $250 bond and is due back in court on August 30.
