PORT CHESTER, N.Y. Giovanna Immaculate DeStefano of Port Chester died Aug. 5. She was 77.
DeStefano volunteered at United Hospital in Port Chester for 29 years. Raised in Italy, she was devoted to her church and helping nuns and orphans while growing up. DeStefano's family said she was a loving mother and a fantastic cook.
She is survived by her husband, Giuseppe DeStefano; two sons, Anthony (Tina) and Michael; four sisters, Irene, Zelda, Maria and Lucia; three brothers, Leonard, Eugene and Armand; and a granddaughter. She was predeceased by a brother, Joe.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Gunipero-Farenga Funeral Home is Port Chester was in charge of the arrangements.
