Southbound Stuck Truck Moved, Traffic Flowing

A tractor trailer that got stuck after it rammed into the Mamaroneck Road overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale was removed and lanes were reopened just as rush hour ended.

The crash closed both southbound lanes formore than an hour Thursday.morning.

The tractor trailer was registered in California and the driver had a California driver's license, according to Kieran O'Leary, public information officer for Westchester County police. O'Leary said out-of-town truck drivers are often responsible for illegally using the passenger-car only parkway. There are signs posted leading to the roadway.

The tractor trailer was traveling with no cargo. This expedited the cleanup because nothing needed to be off-loaded from the truck or picked up from the road surface, O'Leary said.

The left southbound lane reopened at 9:05 a.m. and the right one was opened 30 minutes later.

The driver was issued a summons.
