Port Chester's Capitol Theatre Offers Training Scholarship For Teachers

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester's Capitol Theatre has teamed up with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to provide scholarships to local teachers.

This summer, the Hall will run a special curriculum-training program, exclusively for local educators selected by The Capitol Theatre, that will train them on bringing rock and roll history into their classrooms, with an emphasis on activism and music's role as an agent of social change.

The Capitol Community Fund, the theater?'s charitable program administered by the non-profit organization, will cover all costs for the program, including travel, lodging, and tuition, as part of the scholarship.

This is the second year the Capitol Theatre has participated in a similar program, which it raises funds for by auctioning off the presidential box seats for prime shows.

This year, the fund has raised nearly three times what it did last year, enabling it to send at least 10 teachers to the Summer Teacher Institute, which will be open exclusively to Capitol Community Fund scholarship recipients for the first time.

Any teacher at an accredited institution in the New York metropolitan area can apply by visiting
