PORT CHESTER, N.Y. The Port Chester Board of Trustees held a workshop for the village's Comprehensive Plan of Advisory Committee (CPAC) at the village court room on Monday.
According to the village's website, CPAC was formed in 2007 "to assist in the preparation of the village's comprehensive plan revisions.
"The committee was formed to better understand the public's vision of Port Chester," said Trustee Joseph Kenner, who served on CPAC before becoming a trustee. "The CPAC and the plan are very near and dear to my heart."
Kenner called the plan a "blueprint of the village," and stated that CPAC is made up of a diverse group of village members.
"Originally when we were drafting the plan, we held different forums on strengths and weaknesses of Port Chester," Kenner added. "We asked people what they liked, didn't like and went from there.
The workshop was held to acquaint the board with plan so that they can provide input. Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla suggested that board take time to digest the 100-page report compiled by the CPAC before delivering substantial input.
According to Kenner, the board plans on returning its input to Assistant Village Manager Christopher Steers by the end of the year. After the board's input is received, a second workshop will be scheduled in January.
