Five Questions For A Port Chester Retiree

Teddy Bambace, 71, was born and raised in Port Chester. He worked for the village's sanitation department for 35 years and retired in 1996. The Daily Port Chester sat down with Bambace to ask him five questions about his hometown.

Q: What do you like most about living in Port Chester?

A: "I worked here all my life. That's what I like about it."

Q: Where is one of your favorite places to go?

A: "Applebee's. They have happy hour from four to seven. Don't get me wrong, but I drink."

Q: What is one of your favorite things to do?

A: "I like to go out on a boat with some friends. Sometimes we go to Bayville just across the Sound and eat clams."

Q: What's something you know about Port Chester that most people don't?

A: "Before they built that shopping center [on Main Street], it all used to be houses."

Q: Is there anything you would like to change about Port Chester?

A: "They need to put more benches and more garbage cans down by the waterfront."
