What's Happening In Port Chester This Weekend

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. — Port Chester Fest and a community health fair are some of the events planned for this weekend in Port Chester. ??

Friday, Aug. 3

Concerts In The Park: 7:30 p.m.- 9 p.m. Port Chester Recreation Department’s 2012 Summer Concert Series at Lyon Park featuring music of the ‘50s and ’60s with The Barons. Admission is free. For more information, call the Recreation Department at 914-939-2354.

Milt Gerver Orchestra at Playland: 7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. The band will play the music of the '30s and '40s bandleaders such as Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, accompanied by vocalists. A fireworks display over the Long Island Sound begins at 9:15 p.m. Admission is free. Parking is $5 on Fridays and $1 for senior citizens with a Westchester County Parks Pass. Saturday, Aug. 4

Port Chester Fest – 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Outside of Open Door on Purdy Avenue between Church Street and Don Bosco Place. Crafts and jewelry vendors, food vendors representing countries from around the world, workshops for kids, and multicultural music performances from the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, the Bethesda Baptist Intergenerational Church Choir, Zumba Fitness Party, Capoeira Performance Arts, Bolivian Carnival Dancers, tango musicians, along with rhythm and blues singer Curtis Winchester and Friends. The first annual Multicultural Fashion Show, featuring local children wearing clothing and jewelry from their country of origin will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Purdy Avenue. Family Health Fair at Port Chester Fest – 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Open Door Family Medical Centers will join the Port Chester Fest on Purdy Avenue to provide education and screenings on a variety of health concerns, including skin safety, nutrition, body mass index, blood pressure, HIV, optometry, and reproductive health. At noon, Open Door will present Rep. Nita Lowey (D-Harrison) with a Community Appreciation Award in recognition of her commitment to the well-being of the Port Chester community. The ceremony will be held at the Show Mobile, in the Stop & Shop parking lot along Purdy Avenue. Admission is free.
