Santa Visits the Port Chester Marina

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Although toy-making and list-checking are in full swing at the North Pole, Santa Claus managed to take some time out of his busy schedule to visit "all the good little boys and girls" at the Port Chester Marina Thursday night.

The event was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed due to rain.

Santa made his grand entrance at approximately 5:30 p.m. when he rode in on a Port Chester Fire truck to cheers from the crowd. After Santa's arrival, Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla led the audience in the countdown to the lighting of Port Chester's downtown Christmas tree.

"I'd like to thank both the Port Chester Fire Department and Police Department for making this event possible," Pilla said.

The event was packed with children of all ages waiting their turn to tell Santa Claus what they want for Christmas. While parents and children waited in line, the Port Chester High School Brass Ensemble provided entertainment in the form of festive tunes. Complimentary hot chocolate was also provided on a chilly evening to keep the attendees warm.
