Five local bands will battle it out for one spot at the festival, which features artists like Marc Cohn, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals and Steve Forbert.
As part of New Releases Wednesday, The Peak showcases emerging local talent on a weekly segment, "The 9:37 Local."
The Southern Westchester Music Festival, or SoWe, is a celebration of music, food, beverage, entertainment, and family activities.
The festival on Saturday, Sept. 19, will draw regional artists, food trucks, carnival rides and more. The event will be held at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck.
The Battle of the Bands will feature: Bohemians, an alternative band from Long Island; Cedar Blue, an indie/alternative/folk rock band from Stony Point; Karma Darwin, an indie/folk rock/reggae band from Brewster; Indigo King, a self-professed “space aquarium” from Ossining; and Regret the Hour, an indie rock band from Nyack.
Tickets are on sale now for $5, which also enters guests into a raffle for tickets for the SoWe Music Festival and upcoming shows at The Capitol Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at the door, by calling Ticketfly at 877-987-6487, ordering online at www.thecapitoltheatre.com and visiting The Capitol Theatre Box Office at 149 Westchester Ave., Port Chester, Monday through Thursday from 2-6 p.m., or Friday and Saturday from noon-6 p.m.
