The collision happened around 12:10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, in the northbound lanes near Lincoln Avenue in Rye Brook, according to the Westchester County Police.
Authorities said the wrong-way driver was critically injured and taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. Five occupants of the other vehicle involved were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The northbound Hutchinson River Parkway was closed near the crash scene, with traffic being diverted onto Lincoln Avenue as police investigated the incident.
The full circumstances of the crash are under investigation by the Westchester County Police Accident Investigation Team and detectives from the General Investigations Unit.
