Two new Westchester schools will become the latest to temporarily transition to remote learning after a positive COVID-19 case was confirmed. The White Plains School District announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14 that a member of the Post Road Elementary School community has tested positive for the virus, prompting the district to transition the school to remote learning through at least Wednesday, Oct. 28. A Westchester school district staffer has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). During a daily briefing provided to parents, students, and teachers on video, White Plains School Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca said on Tuesday, March 17, announced the news. Westchester School District Will Install Vape Detectors
A Westchester school district is set to install special detectors that can recognize the vapors from e-cigarettes in an effort to curb usage by students. The White Plains School District has purchased vape detectors, which are being installed in multiple undisclosed locations throughout school grounds. The pilot program comes after similar programs throughout the country. White Plains Teachers, School District, Reach Agreement On Contract
The White Plains School District and the city’s Teachers’ Association have settled on an agreement on a three-year contract that will include a 1.5 percent annual salary increase. The new contract was agreed upon by both parties as of Friday, Feb. 8, and it was officially voted on an approved Monday night at its meeting on Feb. 11. The deal becomes effective on July 1, and will last through June 30, 2022.
