Deputy Grabs, Saves Suicidal Man From Jumping Off I-84 Bridge A distraught man threatening to jump from Veterans Memorial Bridge on I-84 in Brewster was saved by a Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 27, when deputies received a 911 call that a man who parked his car on the westbound side of the highway, was now standing on the edge of Veterans Memorial Bridge, which goes over Route 6 in Brewster, holding a piece of paper, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.
