Six new COVID-19 cases have been reported in a Westchester school district among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero issued an alert to the community late on Sunday, Jan. 10 advising that there have been six individuals who have tested positive for the virus. A Westchester school district located inside one of the state’s precautionary COVID-19 micro-cluster “yellow zones” has completed its mandatory testing to remain open for in-person learning. A staff member at a Westchester elementary school is among the latest to die from novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Emmy Falta, who worked at Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle, died this week at the age of 41, Schools Superintendent Laura Feijoo announced. Mahopac Resident Named New Schools Superintendent
Anthony DiCarlo is the new man in charge of Mahopac's public schools. DiCarlo, who lives in Mahopac, was given a five-year contract by the Mahopac Board of Education at Thursday's meeting to be the district's new superintendent. DiCarlo, who serves as principal of Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle, starts on Feb. 26.
