Projected Snowfall Totals Adjusted With Winter Weather Advisories Issued For Much Of Area New Update: Here Are Latest Snowfall Projections, Time Frame For Storm Projected snowfall totals have been adjusted for the slow-moving storm system sweeping through the area, with higher amounts now projected farther south. The changeover from rain to snow will happen overnight Tuesday, Dec. 10 into Wednesday, Dec. 11. Winter Weather Advisories are now in effect for New York City and Long Island as well as Westchester and Fairfield counties from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday. (See first image above.) Winds out of the west at 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour during the day on Friday, Nov. 1 could cause more power outages. Tens of thousands in the region already got power knocked out during Halloween evening and the overnight. There have also been numerous road closures due to downed trees, resulting in some school closures and delayed starts as well as transportation delays. NY Archdiocese To Close Seven Schools, Including One In Hudson Valley Seven Catholic schools will be closing their doors, including one in the Hudson Valley, the Archdiocese of New York announced. Citing declining enrollment, the Archdiocese announced that after 125 years, St. Mary Elementary School in Wappingers Falls was one of the institutions that will be shutting down when the academic year ends in June.
