Former Carmel FD Commissioner, Police Officer Thomas DeMarchi Dies At 67 Thomas G. DeMarchi, the former Commissioner of the Carmel Fire Department, has died at the age of 67. DeMarchi, who lived his final days at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, died the evening of Sunday, Oct. 13. Born in Brooklyn on July 5, 2952, he moved to Mahopac in 1969, where he went on to graduate from Mahopac High School. He attended college at Lowell Technical Institute in Massachusetts and studied cooking until his departure in 1973 to pursue a career as a police officer in Carmel.
