Here's How Many Tickets State Police Dished Out During 'Operation Hardhat' Details
Not so fast. New York State Police troopers going undercover as construction workers in work zones dished out nearly 2,000 tickets for various violations during a special “Operation Hardhat” detail. Beginning in July and stretching through November, State Police teamed with the New York State Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority to crack down on work zone violations and encourage safer driving. A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle crossing a Westchester intersection died from her injuries, police said. Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of Crane Road and Church Lane shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, where there was a report of a serious crash involving a pedestrian Capt. One Killed In Crash Between Minivan, Bicycle In Hudson Valley
One person was killed in a crash between a minivan and a bicycle in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 in Orange County in the town of Minisink. The bicyclist was traveling south on Lower Road approaching the intersection of State Line Road at the time of the crash, state police said. The cyclist failed to stop at the stop sign on Lower Road and struck the front passenger side of a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling west on State Line Road, according to state police. Two Hospitalized After Head-On Mahopac Crash
Two drivers were injured in Putnam County after one crossed over into the opposite lane and struck the other head-on. First responders were dispatched to Croton Falls Road near the intersection of Sandy Street in Mahopac shortly after 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, Jack Casey, the Public Information Officer for the Mahopac Fire Department said. Alert Issued For Statewide Spike In Fatal Motorcycle Crashes
There has been a noteworthy increase in fatal motorcycle crashes in New York, prompting state officials to issue an alert warning cyclists to be more cautious, specifically with the arrival of the holiday weekend. There has been a 17 percent spike in fatal crashes in New York through mid-August compared to the same time period last year, according to the Traffic Safety Management and Research at the University at Albany's Rockefeller College. Injuries Reported In Two-Vehicle Route 6 Crash
A driver was injured when a box truck and sedan collided on a busy stretch of Route 6. Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Aug. 12, first responders in Putnam County were dispatched to a stretch of Route 6, where there were reports of a two-car crash with injuries in Mahopac. Mahopac Fire Department Public Information Office Jack Casey said that there was one reported injury, and the driver opted to get checked out, transported by a private vehicle. An 8-year-old boy was airlifted with serious injuries to the hospital after he was hit by a pickup truck while he was riding a dirt bike. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, in the Town of Rhinebeck, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. I-684 Crash Sends Vehicle Into Woods
A serious crash due to snowy and slippery roads shut down southbound lanes of I-684 in Westchester County for a couple of hours during the action on Monday, March 23. The crash, which sent a vehicle into the woods, took place around 1:50 p.m., said New York State Polie. Southbound lanes in Bedford between Exits 4 and 5 were closed while the crash was cleared.
