Bill Adding Fencing To Hudson Valley Bridges To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward
A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration. Mistake On The Hudson: Pilot Out For Swim Prompts 911 Call
A miracle on the Hudson it was not. A good Samaritan in Greene County called 911 shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 28, with reports of a small plane down in the Hudson in Catskill, not far from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. When troopers arrived they found a seaplane in the water and reported at least one occupant out and in the water, New York State Police said. Tolls To Rise In Just Days On These Bridges In Hudson Valley
Higher toll rates are heading to several New York bridges in the region. According to the New York State Bridge Authority, as part of a four-year plan that began in 2020, the third of four rate hikes is set to take effect as of Sunday, May 1 in the Hudson Valley. Swimmer, 67, Confirmed Drowned In Long-Distance Event Between Tappan Zee, GWB
A 67-year-old long-distance swimmer who went missing Friday in the Hudson River drowned, authorities confirmed early Saturday. What initially had been a search became a "recovery effort," the Coast Guard said.
