NY Thruway Toll Increase Approved: Here's How Much More You'll Pay, When It Will Take Effect
Motorists who travel on the New York Thruway will soon face an increase in toll rates, officials announced.
The toll adjustments, which will be the first system-wide increase in 14 years, were announced by the New York Thruway Authority on Monday, Sept. 18, and follow a 10-month-long public process.
The increases will affect those with New York E-ZPass tags, non-New York E-ZPass tags, and those who pay tolls by mail, Thruway Authority officials said. They will go into effect on Monday, Jan. 1.

A mother from the region is facing charges after allegedly driving drunk and crashing on the New York Thruway with her two young children in the car, state police said.
Troopers in Orange County were called at around 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, with reports of a single car crash with property damage on I-87 in the town of Newburgh.
When troopers arrived, they determined that the 37-year-old driver, Maria Gabremichael, of Gansevoort in Saratoga County, was intoxicated.

Small Earthquake Reported In Hudson Valley
Did you feel it?
Believe it or not, a small earthquake hit the Hudson Valley, but according to officials with the U.S. Geological Service, zero people have reported feeling it.
The quake hit about 10:41 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 24, in West Nyack on the Hackensack River near the New York Thruway, service officials said.
The magnitude was just 1.1 on the Richter Scale, they added.
