A new cafe in Northern Westchester is combining Filipino-inspired pastries, coffee, and art into a fresh experience for those who stop by.
Likha Art Cafe, located in Hawthorne at 363 Elwood Ave., celebrated its soft opening on Friday, July 14, the owners announced on social media.
The new eatery offers a focus on art while serving coffee and a selection of Filipino-inspired sweets. Some of these pastries include mini ube flan cakes, pan de coco, ube pandesal with cheese, and mini sans rival dessert cakes.

Manhunt: 2 Men Stole Car, Submachine Gun Before Hours-Long Search In Westchester, Police Say
Two Connecticut men, including one who was the subject of an hours-long manhunt in Westchester, face charges after stealing a vehicle, a submachine gun, and a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
The incident began on Monday, April 24 around 1:30 p.m., when Westchester County Police were alerted that a stolen black Audi from Fairfield County was traveling near the border of Pelham and Mount Vernon, according to the department.

A bar in Northern Westchester is temporarily closed as it processes the loss of its owner.
Unionville Tavern, located in Hawthorne at 415 Commerce St., announced that it would close for a period of time after its owner, Gordon Krueger of Ossining, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 13 at the age of 78.
Krueger, also affectionately known as "Gordo," died at home with his wife, Candice, at his side, the bar announced in a post on social media.

A 28-year-old former high school athlete has died suddenly at her home in Westchester.
Christina P. Carpenito, age 28, of Valhalla, died Tuesday, Nov. 2 at her residence.
Known as being a talented singer and talented artist, she attended Valhalla High School and was a member of the varsity volleyball team.
Carpenito was born on Oct. 24, 1993, to Michael and Jeanne P. (Feeney) Carpenito in White Plains.
