A 42-year-old man has admitted to felony drunk driving charges after injuring a Hudson Valley mayor who tried to help him, officials announced.
Orange County resident Matthew Labar of Goshen, age 42, pleaded guilty to felony DWI charges on Friday, Jan. 12, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced on Friday, Jan. 26.

A Hudson Valley man charged with raping a minor was caught after fleeing out of state, police said.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, police started investigating allegations that Orange County resident Jesus Torres, age 31, of Goshen, had sexual conduct with a child less than 13 years old, and learned that he had fled the state to avoid being arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 18, according to New York State Police.

Man Returning From Car Show Killed After 1967 Convertible Overturns On Hudson Valley Roadway
A Hudson Valley man coming home from a car show in his 1967 Chevy convertible was killed after hitting a guard rail.
The crash took place in Orange County around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the town of Goshen on Route 94.
According to Deputy Chief Allen Faust, of the Goshen Police, John Smith, age 52, of the Village of Florida, veered off the roadway, hit a guard rail, and then an earth embankment before flipping over.
Smith was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the town of Goshen Fire Department, Faust said.

Two Hudson Valley residents were arrested following an investigation into a home receiving shipments of drugs through the mail.
Orange County residents Muhammad Iftikhar, age 42, and Maria Younis, age 39, both of Goshen, were arrested following the investigation, which concluded on Tuesday, Feb. 8, New York State Police reported.
Police said the two were arrested after a search warrant was executed at the Goshen residence, and law enforcement seized more than 50 grams of anabolic steroids and more than 20 grams of MDMA.

A Hudson Valley native and mother of four was allegedly gunned down while at work by an ex-boyfriend.
Rebecca Jean Rogers, age 38, who grew up in Orange County, and graduated from Goshen High School, was shot and killed Friday, April 16, while at her waitressing job at a Bob Evans Restaurant in Ohio, where she moved several years ago.
Rogers' ex-boyfriend, Richard Nelson, age 54, of Canton, Ohio, walked into the restaurant, past the cash register, and down a hallway where he then allegedly shot Rogers multiple times before fleeing, Canton Police said.
