111-Year-Old Hudson Valley Man Dies, Survived By 108-Year-Old Wife Duranord Veillard of Spring Valley, who was believed to be the oldest resident in the Hudson Valley, died Friday, June 1, at the age of 111. Although officials records are not kept, Veillard's family members and his wife Jeanne Veillard, believed them to be area's oldest married couple, having been married since 1932. Jeanne turned 108 in May. The incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on Phyllis Terrace in the Village of Kaser, Ramapo Police said. Hudson Valley Woman Killed After Being Hit Shoveling Snow By Tree Police are reporting that an 88-year-old Hudson Valley resident who was clearing snow was hit and killed by a falling tree as one of the largest storms to hit the area in years moved through the area. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday at 61 Hillside Ave. in Suffern, while Barbara Soleskien was clearing snow and was trapped underneath the large tree as it fell, bringing power lines down within a few feet of where she was trapped, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
