Body Of Missing Kayaker Recovered On Long Island Sound The US Coast Guard recovered the body of a missing area kayaker in the waters of Long Island Sound during a powerful Nor'easter.  The kayaker, 45-year-old Laurence Broderick, reportedly left Hempstead in his red kayak at approximately 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, en route to Mamaroneck, in Southern Westchester County, and was reported overdue early Tuesday, Oct. 26 by his mother.
