A 38-year-old contractor from Westchester has been ordered to pay tens of thousands of dollars in fines after failing to pay eight workers their wages for months, officials announced. Artemio Fuerte, a resident of New Rochelle and the owner of Fuerte Construction LLC, was sentenced on Wednesday, July 31 to three years of probation and a $12,000 fine. A Northern Westchester town has banned the use of all-terrain vehicles on public property almost a year after a man was run down at a baseball field. In an announcement on Friday, July 19, the Town of Yorktown revealed it adopted new regulations for ATVs and off-highway motorcycles following a vehicular assault in late August that left a man with severe injuries. Man Charged After Abandoning 2 Dogs On Hudson Valley Road, Officials Say
A 64-year-old man faces criminal charges after allegedly abandoning two dogs on the side of a Hudson Valley road, authorities announced. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Thursday, June 6, when the Putnam County SPCA learned that two dachshund mix dogs had been found the day before by a good samaritan on Longfellow Drive in the Lake Carmel area of the town of Kent.
