Meet 'Spar': New K-9 Officer Joins Yorktown Police Force The Yorktown Police Department welcomed its newest four-legged officer to the force this week, Spar, a trained German Shepard police dog, joining fellow K9 Dallas, to form the Yorktown Police Canine Unit. Spar’s duties will include drug detection and patrol, while Dallas is trained primarily for the task of drug detection. Spar’s presence on the police force was made possible through a $10,000 grant that was secured by New York Sen.
