Westchester School District In Danger Of Losing State Aid
The New Rochelle School District is in danger of losing state aid because two middle schools will not meet the required number of instructional hours for students. Parents were made aware of this issue this week when interim Superintendent Magda Parvey sent a letter detailing the issue at hand. An elementary school student in Westchester is being treated for tuberculosis. New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Brian Osborne issued an alert at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, alerting the community that the Westchester County Department of Health has notified officials that a student at Columbus Elementary School has been diagnosed with the malady. New Rochelle High School Principal Reggie Richardson is attempting to rescind his resignation after he saw his New York City Department of Education job taken away last week. He sent just a one-sentence letter to Superintendent Brian Osborne. Following the resignation of Schools Superintendent Brian Osborne earlier in the summer, New Rochelle High School Principal Reggie Richardson has announced his resignation, effective in August. Richardson will leave the New Rochelle School District on Aug. 20 after announcing his intentions to join the New York City Department of Education.
