Pace's 1985 Baseball Team Will Be Honored As Team Of Distinction

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University department of athletics has announced  the Team of Distinction Award will be awarded to the 1985 Pace baseball team.

Members of that team will be honored as a part of the 2015 Pace Athletics Hall of Fame and awards ceremony Thursday, April 23. The event will be at Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison. A cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner and the induction ceremony to follow at 7 p.m.

The 1985 baseball team was one of the most successful in the program's history as it finished with a 30-8 record. The Setters won the Knickerbocker Conference regular season title with a 21-3 conference record and went on to win the Knickerbocker Conference Tournament as well. Pace was selected to their first NCAA Division II Tournament that season.

The 1985 baseball roster includes: Chris Bayer, Pete Capello, Vin Carlesi, Frank Contreras,  Alan DeMattia, Steve Dragos, Steve Dwyer, Brian Emmert, John Ferracuti, Bill Findlay, Bob Gregory, Pat Jermyn, Joe Kesselmark, Ted Lawrence, Steve Maier, Howie Manzon, Joe Nannariello, Stuart Parsons, John Passarelli, Joe Ruchalski and Frank Sicignano.    In addition to the 1985 baseball team, the newest members to the Pace Athletics Hall of Fame are Ronald Focazio (men's basketball '64), Elizabeth Hernandez (women's basketball '83), Kerri Kaylor (women's soccer '06), Jeffrey Kelly (men's basketball '69) and Dr. George Pinkham (football '86). The Pace Athletics Hall of Fame was started in 1997 with this year's ceremony marking the 14th induction class.
