Pace Men Sting American International

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace men’s basketball team got strong performances from Justin Alston, Denzel Primus-Devonish and Delroy Daley Tuesday and rolled to a 68-48 victory over American International in a Northeast-10 conference game.

Pace evened its record at 10-10 and 8-8 in NE-10 play to take over second place in the conference standings, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 6-14 and 4-12 in conference play.

Alston led all Pace scorers with 19 points, Primus-Devonish handed out a career-best 11 assists and Daily grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds to lead the way.

The teams traded leads over the first 12 minutes but the Setters used a 15-0 run to pull into the lead as a 13-12 lead was extended to a 28-12 advantage. David Eismeier started the run with a 3-pointer and Alston scored 10 points in the rally, including a pair of long-range three pointers.

The Yellow Jackets pulled to within 12 points at 35-23 early in the second half and the Setters answered with a 12-2 run as Alston and Primus-Devonish each netted a triple to push the lead to 20 points at 47-25 with 10 minutes to play.

The Setters return to action on Saturday at West Haven, Conn. for a pivotal Northeast-10 Conference game against the Chargers of New Haven at 3:30 p.m. Pace trails New Haven (9-7) for sixth place by one game in the NE-10.
