Area Schools Participate In First Tech Challenge At Pace In Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pace Seidenberg Computer Science School hosted the kickoff of the First Tech Challenge robotics season on Sept. 10, featuring several area high schools.

The program challenges students to apply STEM concepts in real-world situations, and inspires tomorrow’s innovators and entrepreneurs. Students get to design, build, and program robots.

“Participating in FIRST lets you experience things you don't usually do. Programming, building, designing, etc., really make you excited to learn even more and go above and beyond," FTC competitior Danielle Rubiano said. "I'm passionate about learning new things, and FIRST really helps you to pursue that passion to make yourself more knowledgeable. You can apply aspects of FTC and FRC in the real world, such as Gracious Professionalism. Just like in the real world, you learn to work with your peers to accomplish common goals."

Veteran teams such as Suffern Robotics FTC Team from Suffern High School brought their robot that they took to the World Championship in St. Louis last April. Suffern Robotics finished 38th in match play and was one of 6 finalists for two judged awards
