PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Pleasantville's new Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Econom officially was introduced by the village board Monday. Econom was hired in May to replace Stephen Johnson, who retired after more than two decades with the village.
"The first five weeks have flown by," Econom said. "Im having a great time. I do have a great group of guys down there and were getting a lot accomplished."
Econom has spent more than two decades in private and public engineering, notably as the deputy town engineer in Yorktown from 1988-2006 and more recently as the former assistant village manager in Mount Kisco from 2006-11.
We are delighted to have him," said Mayor Peter Scherer. "He comes with a very, very, very deep resumé, lots of experience and with multiple certifications, including a license as a professional engineer.
Econom is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and is a New York certified building code enforcement officer. He also has nationally recognized certifications in erosion and sediment control, water quality, and storm sewer systems. He earned a bachelors degree in civil engineering and a master's in environmental engineering from Manhattan College.
Looking to better familiarize himself with the village, Econom is encouraging any Pleasantville resident to call him with any issues, concerns or suggestions, or to simply visit him in his office at 1 Village Lane.
The doors always open, he said.
