PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pleasantville’s upcoming village board elections will be a contested election something that residents haven’t seen in five years.

There will be three people running to fill two open seats on the board.

Trustee Mindy Berard, who has served three terms on the board, said she was stepping aside to allow others a chance to serve, a previous report by The Examiner said.

Throwing their hats in the ring are incumbent trustee Steven Lord, 48, who is seeking his second term; former board member Jeremiah "Jerry" Lynch, and first-timer Nicole Asquith, The Examiner reported.

A fourth person, Lenny Balducci, Jr., had submitted a petition, but later withdrew his name.

Balducci said Thursday that his name will not be on the ballot/

Lord told The Examiner that he hoped to be able to continue his work on the village’s Master Plan as it enters its implementation phase.

Lynch, 59, served two terms on the board before stepping down in 2002. He is now chairman of the Westchester County Planning Board.

Asquith, 46, co-founder of Indivisible Pleasantville, said she hopes to revitalize the village’s business district while preserving its character, The Examiner reported.
