John P. Ricciardi, 91, Of Pleasantville, WWII Veteran, Master Machinist

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - John P. Ricciardi of Pleasantville died Thursday, July 18. He was 91.

Ricciardi was born July 9, 1922, in the Bronx, son of Arthur Ricciardi and Rose Carielli. He was a combat veteran of World War II. In 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army, and served in combat in the Pacific Theater of Operations as a gun crew leader in the 64th Field Artillery, 25th Division. until he was discharged in December 1945.

Ricciardi was a master machinist in the elevator industry. He was a member of Local 3 of the IBEW, in which he served for many years as a union steward. In 1977 he and his family moved from the Bronx to Pleasantville. He continued working until his late 70’s for Tri-State Elevators in Pelham.

Ricciardi is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Carol McNiff (Jim) and Joanie McGowan (Brian);five granchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Ricciardi; eight great-grandchildren; and niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Robert Ricciardi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22 at Holy Innocents Church, 431 Bedford Road, Pleasantville. Entombment following at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Alzheimers Foundation, 322 8th Ave., #700, NY, NY 10001, or the Children’s Tumor Foundation, 120 Wall Street, NY, NY 10005.
