Catherine Kocur, 73, Pleasantville Nurse

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Catherine Gannon Kocur of Pleasantville died Saturday, Sept. 1, after a prolonged illness. She was 73.

Born July 14, 1939, in Yonkers, she was the daughter of Anthony and Agnes Gannon. She graduated from Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers, where she was later worked as a professor and administrator for more than 30 years. 

Kocur received her registered nursing degree, master's degree of nursing and MBA while working and raising three children. She continued teaching as an adjunct professor at Westchester Community and Concordia colleges.

She thrived on new adventures and especially loved traveling with family and friends, her family said. Kocur was active in the Zonta Club of Westchester, where she served as president, vice president and secretary. She was named "Zontian of the Year" in 2010.Kocur was predeceased by her husband, Danny Kocur. She is survived by two daughters, Marianne (Robert) Schulze, of Lagrangeville, N.Y., and Catherine (Monte) Kleman, of Herndon, Va.; a son, Daniel (Keri) Kocur, of Holliston, Mass.; two brothers, Anthony (Patricia) Gannon, of Stewart Manor, N.Y., and Joe (Rose Mary) Gannon, of Brewster, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Williams, of Bethel, Conn.; and seven grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Beecher Funeral Home in Pleasantville. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Innocents Parish in Pleasantville. Private burial will follow.
